Russia agrees to import more Belarusian dairy products

Russia, being the main market for Belarusian dairy products, has a sales agreement of 3.8 million tonnes this year with Belarus, up 200,000 tonnes over 2011, according to Prime Minister of Belarus.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, sometimes mass media, especially in Russia, say that Belarus keeps dumping dairy prices and, as a result, Russian companies have difficulties with the sales of milk on their market.

"It is far from being the truth. We stay committed to the agreements regarding everything that pertains to nontariff regulation. As for prices, we do not sell cheaper than Russians, we sell even at a higher price," the Prime Minister said.

Asked on how the government sees the situation with warehouses full of dairy products, the Premier noted that he does not consider it a big problem. "Yes, there are big amounts of animal oil, dried skimmed and full cream milk powder, dairy cans. The export of these products is complicated due to high competition," he said. Belarus is able to sell it all, but it should be done wise. "It is a matter of price to yield profits from sales," the head of government said.
