Russia supplies fodder grain to Japan for the first time

High global grain prices have enabled Russian grain exporters to break into the world's largest market.

The International Grain Company, a GLENCORE subsidiary, has supplied 59,000 tonnes of fodder grain to Japan, the first shipment of its kind by the Russian grains sector. Japan is the world's largest grain importer bringing in 23 to 24 million tonnes of grain annually. The state-run company JFA is the sole authorized importer in Japan. Experts cite the Japanese grain market as closed, very complicated and hard to penetrate, with overly strong grain import requirements.
