Afflicted Canadian pigs may caused by enterovirus
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has suspected enterovirus as the main cause of illness in Canadian pigs that were recently shipped into the country.
THE USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, or APHIS, conducted an investigation after a shipment of swine from Canada showed signs of illness which were positive of the enterovirus/circovirus. The hogs were held for further analysis and were later released as the disease does not pose a threat to human health, APHIS said.
