China's Lysine Producer Fengyuan Group Stepping Up Efforts to Control Environmental Pollution

An eFeedLink Exclusive Report

The Bengbu City Government, under whose Fengyuan Group's manufacturing plants' territorial jurisdiction fall under, has recently taken steps for environmental protection in accordance to requirements issued by the State Environmental Protection Administration and the Anhui Province Environmental Protection Bureau.

Environmental inspection teams from the Anhui Province Environmental Protection Bureau inspected Fengyuan Group's manufacturing sites on June 24. As a result, two six-ton ethyl alcohol production lines and another six-ton monosodium glutamate production line in Feng Yuan Group's eastern industrial zone were asked to shut down. As a stop gap measure, the concentrated and diluted ammonia solution resulting from lysine production were either concentrated further for storage or added with sodium as the Group submits its proposals to the Bureau regarding the plants proposed change in the process for treating the by-products.

Meanwhile, the production of bone glue and gelatin at Fengyuan's production lines has also been regulated. The industrial pollutant's emission charges have been doubled while construction of the wastewater treatment plants are now in the pipeline.
