Australia's milk production down 7.6% in May
As output struggles to recover from poor weather conditions this season, Australian milk production fell for the sixth month in a row in May.
May's production of 628.7 million litres was down 7.6% from the May 2012 level, according to figures from industry body Dairy Australia. This marked the second biggest monthly decline in the current 2012-13 season - April's output was down 9.6% on-year.
