China may import 6.79 million tonnes soy in June
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the soy imports of China this June will likely total 6.79 million tonnes.
The ministry revised its estimate upward from 6.56 million tonnes based on reports from importers during the June 1-15 period, according to a statement on its website dated Wednesday (June 27).
The ministry also said July soy imports will likely reach 4.6 million tonnes.
The state-backed China National Grain and Oils Information Center said earlier that June soy imports would likely reach 6 million tonnes and July shipments would total 5.7 million tonnes.
The ministry's regular forecast may not tally with actual import figures, as it doesn't include all cargoes.
The ministry issues the estimates twice a month.
