Indonesia corn output continues upward trend
Indonesia's corn production has continued to grow, as the country has so far produced 16.47 million tonnes this year, up from 16 million tonnes last year, according to Maxdeyul Sola, secretary general of the National Corn Council.
Most corn came from East Java and Central Java, with each providing about five million tonnes per year. Other major corn-producing regions are North Sumatra and Lampung.
Indonesia exports its corn to several countries, including Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan.
Indonesia is expected to export at least one million tonnes of corn, or three million tonnes at the most, this year, according to Sola.
