CGC announces grading changes to eastern grains for 2009-10
                              


The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) has announced grain grading changes for the 2009-10 eastern crop year.

 

The changes will come into effective on July 1, 2009. The changes include:

 

-         Revised definition of "Hulled and hulless" for oats
 
-         Replace K values with percentage tolerances for ergot and sclerotinia in triticale and ergot and stones in hulless barley.
 
-         New moisture conversion table for hulless oats
 
-         Revised moisture conversion table for Soft White Spring wheat
 

-         Release of a new mildew guide sample for the grade Wheat, No. 2 Canada Eastern Red (Winter)

          

The CGC is the federal agency responsible for establishing and maintaining Canada's grain quality standards.
