New York to build new red meat processing plant

Sullivan County government has given approval to a proposed Southern Catskills red meat processing facility that would be built in Liberty, New York.

County Manager David Fanslau said the county is expecting a grant of US$800,000 from the federal government for the project.

"The county has had a goal for a decade or more of realising a red meat facility to be located in the Village of Liberty," he said. "This resolution put a final touch on a recommitment to the process to secure the grant from the federal economic development agency."

Fanslau said he has been given an indication that the grant would be coming, possibly, this summer.
