FDA to examine health benefits and claims of eggs with omega-3
The FDA is currently looking into allegations that eggs containing omega-3 may not be as healthy as previously thought and said it would look into complaints of misleading labels and advertising.
While omega-3 in fish brings about health benefits such as preventing heart disease, the same is not true of omega-3 in eggs.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), charged that egg producers touting the benefits of omega-3 eggs are trying to hoodwink consumers.
The organisation recently urged the FDA to enforce its own regulations and stop the egg industry from using misleading labels and advertising.
