New Zealand supports Australian pork industry's case against PMWS
The New Zealand Pork Industry Board (NZPIB) supported its Australian counterpart in its bid to ban pig meat imports from PMWS-affected countries.
Australian Pork Ltd. had earlier brought up the case to the Australian federal court due to concerns about the serious pig disease, Post-Weaning Multi-systemic Wasting Syndrome.
The NZPIB said it could identify with the Australian industry's concern because the disease was discovered in New Zealand in 2003 and imported pig meat was suspected to have been the cause of it.
