Japan finds third shipment of unapproved BT10 corn

Japan has found a third shipment of unapproved US Bt10 corn in its imports.

The Japanese government has announced earlier this month that all vessels containing US corn would be tested for the presence of Bt10.

Despite assurances by the US government about the safety of Bt10 corn in food or animal feed, and endorsement by the Environmental Protection Agency, the Japanese government has so far viewed the US arguments as insufficient to allow legal importation under Japanese law.
