Iranian Government Purchase 4 Million Tons Of Surplus Wheat

 

So far four million tons of wheat have been purchased from the farmers during the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2004-March 19, 2005), and since the inception of wheat cultivation period.

 

The report says this amount shows a 29 percent increase in comparison with the corresponding period in the past Iranian year.

 

The highest volume of wheat purchased relates to Khuzestan, Fars, Golestan provinces with total purchase of 1.026 million tons, 930 thousand tons and 863 thousand tons respectively. The figures show a 20, 9 and 52 percent increase in comparison with corresponding figures in Iranian year 1382  (March 20, 2003 - March 19, 2004).

 

The government's wheat purchase has surpassed the past year's total purchase in Khuzestan, Ilam and Hormozgan provinces, as well as in Jiroft and Kahnoj districts.
