Llechwedd Meats doubles workforce after successful expansion

After a successful expansion at the new sit on Anglesey, North Wales, Llechwedd Meats has doubled its workforce.

Llechwedd Meatsmoved its 20 staff from a unit in Gaerwen to a modern site at Bryn Cefni Industrial Estate in Llangefni last year. The company, which supplies the retail trade across North Wales, has since seen staff numbers increase to 40 with the potential more workers could be taken on in the future. This has happened due to extra demand for their meats and additional labour intensive cutting work carried out at the plant.

Managing director Nathan Roberts said, "We have been at the new site since May 2012 after more than 20 years in Gaerwen. We are a local company with local produce and a local workforce and I want to thank them for all their hard work. Our workforce has doubled since moving and depending on demand that could increase further in the future at this site."

Last week Anglesey MP Albert Owen visited the Llechwedd processing plant and outlet shop. Owen said that the family run business is setting the benchmark for quality and service.

He added, "Llechwedd Meats is an important enterprise and also an important employer here on the Island, doubling its workforce in an industry which has been in turmoil for some years. Their new factory outlet is an excellent way to enhance the business and their success is put down to their commitment, service and quality."

Llechwedd Meats supplies Welsh beef, lamb, sausages, pork, bacon and gammon to its customers based all across North Wales.
