Russia's 2012 agricultural crop acreage totals 76.3 million hectares
For Russia's 2012 harvest, the planted areas of agricultural crops will total 76.3 million hectares, according to operative data of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
As of June 21, 2012, agrarians of the Russian Federation planted spring crops throughout the areas of 49.9 million hectares, including spring grains - 30.1 million hectares.
Taking into account the remained areas of winter grain crops, the general areas of grains and leguminous crops as for beginning of the harvesting campaign will total nearly 44.8 million hectares, or nearly 97% of the initially planted areas of grain crops.
It was also noted that in the current year agrarians started the harvesting campaign in Russia on June 19, 2012, or 10 days earlier compared to last year. As of June 20, Russia already harvested over 100,000 tonnes of grains.
Regions of the Central, North western, Southern, North Caucasian and Volga Federal Districts began procurement of fodder. As of June 21, 2012, agricultural enterprises prepared 657,800 tonnes of fodder units of coarse and succulent feeds, an increase of 10.6% compared to the same period last year.
