Cal-Maine acquires Zephyr

Cal-Maine, the largest producer and distributor of eggs in the US, has acquired Florida-based Zephyr Egg Company.

Zephyr Egg has been a major participant in the egg industry in Florida and the south-eastern states of the US for more than 40 years.

The assets to be purchased by Cal-Maine include approximately 2 million laying hens, pullet growing facilities, two egg processing plants, a feed mill and a fleet of delivery trucks.

Cal-Maine will also acquire the Eggland Best franchise in southern Florida, some contract laying flocks and Zephyr's interest in American Egg Products Inc., in which Cal-Maine already has a majority interest.
