Competition for poultry producers hots up in Norway
Rising poultry consumption has spawned fiercer competition in Norway's poultry market.
A 20-percent rise in poultry consumption since 2006 has prompted the country's main distributors Cardinal Foods, Spis Grilstad and Nortura to source for new poultry producers, leading to a 10-15 percent pay rise for producers.
Cardinal, which recently got 20 new producers, paid each producer up to NOK 200,000 (US$ 32,900) to sign on with them, according to MD Torfinn Higdem.
