China fishmeal imports down in May
            

 

China imported 81,689 tonnes of fishmeal in May, down 38.6 percent from April, and a 4.8 percent fall from the same period last year.

            

Imports in May 2007 came mostly from:

                        

Peru: 23,520 tonnes;

            

Chile: 19,847 tonnes;

                                   

Thailand: 13,066 tonnes

            

For the period from January to May 2007, China's fishmeal imports totalled 434,441 tonnes, up 6.3 percent on-year.
