Q2 US hog inventory up 2 percent from Q1
The US inventory of all hogs and pigs on June 1, 2005 was 60.8 million head, up slightly from year-earlier levels, and up 2 percent from March 1 of this year.
Breeding inventory, at 5.98 million head, was up 1 percent from both June 1, 2004 and last quarter.
Market hog inventory, at 54.8 million head, was up slightly from last year, and up 2 percent from last quarter.
Q2 US pig crop in 2005, at 25.9 million head, was up 1 percent from the same period in 2004 and 2003.
