Ukraine's foreign direct investment in agriculture rises by 6.4%
 

 

Ukraine's volume of foreign direct investment in the agricultural industry has increased by 6.4% in 2012 compared with 2011.

 

According to Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ukrainian agricultural sector has received UAH16 billion (US$2 billion) of capital investments, up 11% compared with 2011.

 

N.Prysyazhnyuk concluded that such positive trends were caused by actions of the government. To date, the Government of Ukraine is taking steps to ensure that the conditions of the agricultural business become clear, transparent and predictable.

 

Foreign investors are showing growing interest in the development of the agricultural sector. In particular, analysts forecast that, in the following five to 10 years, the Ukrainian agro-industrial companies may rise to nearly US$20-30 billion of investments.
