EU strengthens warnings on veterinary drug Tilmicosin
The European Commission said Friday (Jun 23) it is strengthening warnings on the packaging of veterinary drug Tilmicosin.
This follows the death of two farmers in the US after they accidentally injected themselves with the drug.
Tilmicosin is used to treat pneumonia in cattle and sheep. It is marketed under the brand name 'Micotil' in 15 EU member states.
The EU also said that only veterinarians will be able to administer the drug in the future.
