Cell Aquaculture to set up RAS facility

Cell Aquaculture will partner with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia in setting up a fully funded, 250 tonne high density RAS facility.

The agreement is the culmination of many years of proposal submissions and the completion of a successful loading trial for the Department of Fisheries in February last year.

The facility will be totally funded by and built on land owned by The Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia at Pagoh, which has already been allocated for the operation of RAS fish farms.

Cell Aquaculture has developed the "Cell" System - a sophisticated, yet simple and economical land based recirculating aquaculture system that delivers premium seafood, in an environmentally responsible manner, consistently throughout the year.

Demonstrating the high value aquaculture market the company is targeting, the industry is currently valued in excess of US$100 billion annually.

Work has already begun on the project and is expected to be completed within six months.
