India extends ban on Chinese dairy products
India on Thursday (Jun 24) extended a ban on milk and milk products from China until further notice, a government statement said.
The new ban comes into effect Thursday after the last one expired Wednesday.
India initially banned import of milk and milk products from China in September 2008 after they were found to be tainted with melamine. The industrial chemical causes kidney stones and can lead to kidney failure.
