Vietnam's total milk production is expected to reach one million tonnes by 2020, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Developments Animal Husbandry Department.

The department said that processing and consumption of milk from now until 2020 will be firm between 450,000 and 500,000 tonnes, meeting the 35-38% domestic consumption. Domestic milk production has grown by more than 30% in the past decade.

However, there are still difficulties such as small scale of breeding, out of date technologies and poor competitiveness of quality products.
