The family-owned Leiber GmbH in Germany, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of speciality products made from brewers' yeast, is investing a further €7.5 million (US$9.82 million) this year in its production facility in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Three years after the construction of a spray-drying tower and finished goods warehouse at the site in Engter near Bramsche, Friday saw the ground-breaking ceremony for an additional spray-drying tower and the doubling of storage capacity to 4,000 pallet slots. When construction is complete, the plant - which will be powered by electricity from renewable resources - will initially dry over 2,000 tonnes of brewer's yeast cell wall products for the company's animal nutrition business unit.
Adaptation for use with other special brewers' yeast products for animal nutrition is being planned. Commissioning and production start of the new spray-drying tower, which is twice as powerful and operates using renewable resources, is planned for April 2014, and the semi-automated, computer-controlled warehouse with its 4,000 pallet slots will open its doors at the start of the year.
With the expansion of the spray-drying plant and warehouse capacity, Leiber GmbH is taking further steps in terms of growth and competitiveness in the animal feed business unit.
For almost 60 years, the company Leiber, based in Bramsche, Lower Saxony, has been one of the leading manufacturers of speciality yeast products "Made in Germany".
