Belarus posts increase in groats production

 
 

An increase of 3.5% was seen in the production of Belarus groats products, the grain products department of Belarus said.

 

During January-May period of 2010, enterprises of the grain products department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus produced 21.4 thousand tonnes of groats products, an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, the department said.

 

During the five months of 2010, organisations of the department produced 16 thousand tonnes of groats, down 0.2% compared to the level of January-May 2009. In particular, the organisations produced 3.8 thousand tonnes of pearl barley (down 17% compared to January-May 2009), 1.9 thousand tonnes of peeled barley (down 46.8%) and 1.3 thousand tonnes of oat groats (down 31%).

 

At the same time, during the reporting period, the enterprises increased production volumes of wheat groats by 37% to the level of 2.5 thousand tonnes, including also two thousand tonnes of semolina groats, buckwheat groats, up 36% to five thousand tonnes.
