EUFETEC to collaborate in Victam 2011 (Press Release)
The recently formed European Feed Technology Centre (EUFETEC) is set to be a partner in the upcoming FIAAP Conference in 2011.
EUFETEC is a new organisation that unites European animal feed manufacturers, academia and researchers in a common vision for the sector. Founding members are: BEMEFA (Belgium), FEFAC (EU), CESFAC (Spain), FRANA (Belgium), FEFANA (EU), TECALIMAN (France), Wageningen UR Livestock Research (The Netherlands), Hogeschool Gent, Ghent University, Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research (ILVO) (Belgium), Institute for Food Technology (FINS) (Serbia), ISAN – University of Piacenza (Italy) as well as University of Nottingham (UK).
More organisations will be included as EUFETEC develops its activities.
Meanwhile, Gert van Duinkerken of Wageningen University and Research Centre stated that, "EUFETEC has the ambition to initiate and coordinate a European response to major challenges in areas such as sustainable feed and environment, feed and food quality and safety, and production unit management. The FIAAP Conference is an excellent international podium to contribute to these goals by interaction between industries, research institutes and academia."
By identifying common industry challenges and opportunities, research will be coordinated and the results converted into practical guidelines. EUFETEC will help the industry to implement these through training and the provision of support services, van Duinkerken added.
