Russia relists Pilgrim's Pride plant
Russia has relisted a Pilgrim's Pride poultry plant as an approved exporter as the facility has maintained a high level of salmonella prevention, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The Russellville, Alabama, plant can now export poultry produced on or after June 19.
Russia had delisted the plant after finding salmonella on a raw product imported from the facility, said a FSIS spokesperson.
But Russia reversed its decision after Pilgrim's Pride and the FSIS provided results of salmonella tests completed in the US. The results were all negative for the prior 16 months and that the plant is in Category 1 for FSIS' salmonella performance standard testing programme.
