USDA to release report on flood damage in August

The "Acreage" report scheduled for release June 30 by the USDA would not take into account much of the recent flooding damage to crops in the Midwest, so follow-up surveys will be done, according to the USDA.

USDA's National Agriculture Statistics Service, or NASS, officially confirmed it will again begin surveying farmers starting on June 23 and throughout July on how much corn, soys and sorghum they expect to be able to harvest this year, as reported by Dow Jones Newswires earlier this week.

NASS officials said they will concentrate on states hit by "extraordinary rainfall" in the Midwest, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.

The new data collected will be released in the "Crop Production" report scheduled for release by the USDA on Aug. 12.
