Latest outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in China
The Chinese government has reported another foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in Weili county of Xinjiang province. The 40 infected cows were among the 261 culled to stop the spread of the disease.
China's national foot-and-mouth disease reference laboratory confirmed the outbreak on June 19, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The FAO has acknowledged a recent report from the Chinese government stating that the disease was under control.
