Cofco enters swine breeding sector 

Cofco, the largest oils and food importer and exporter in China has completed construction for its pig breeding bases in Tianjin and Dongtai, Jiangsu province.

The number of live pigs available for slaughter at the breeding bases is at 600,000.

According to industry insiders, the pig breeding industry is at an all-time low, and the pork price is to rally in the second half of this year. The new bases of the manufacturer will just catch up with the pork price rally. This is expected to tie together with the grain and oil business to help the giant to march into the first-tier cities such as Shanghai and Tianjin.
