China reports increase in trade deficit for livestock products
China's trade deficit of livestock products was US$1.59 billion in the first four months this year, up 89.5% from a year earlier, according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Livestock exports rose 15.4% on-year to US$1.3 billion in the period, while imports were up 46.9% at US$2.89 billion. The ministry did not provide breakdowns in its statement.
In 2009, China's trade deficit of livestock products fell 19.2% to US$2.69 billion.
