Biomin kicks off animal nutrition forum tour

Biomin, a leading global company focusing on health in animal nutrition, has started its three-city forums in the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.

 

The forums were held on June 16, 2009 at Astoria Plaza Hotel in Manila; June 17, 2009 at Sheraton Subang Hotel & Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and June 18, 2009 at Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok.

 

Biomin expects over 300 participants, including professionals, consultants and nutritionists across the swine, poultry and feed production sectors. The forums updated the participants on:

  • NutriEconomics - the concept of this new term
     
  • Health and nutritional challenges faced by current broiler, layer and swine production and effective solutions to these challenges.
     
  • Natural feed additives - how they work and how effective they are
     
  • Mycotoxin Risk Management strategy
     
  • Phytase application in commercial animal and its economical benefits
These forums also mark the debut of BIOMIN's latest concept, 'NutriEconomics', which involves 3 interconnected pillars and their impacts on the animal and agri-feed industry:
  • Nutrition (Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology)
     
  • Economics (Economics/ Efficiency Parameters)
     
  • Environment (Environmental Responsibility/ Economics Of Resources)

Speakers include Professor Seksom Attamangkune, Head, Department of Animal Science, Kasetsart University, Thailand, who presented on how to optimise feed cost and maximise profits in a practical manner; Mrs. Marnie van Barneveld, Product Application Manager of BIOMIN Asia, who presented  the key differences of organic acids versus Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGP), the mode of action of acidifiers and proven benefits such as reducing diarrhoea and mortality rates, and delivers key insights to ensure efficiency of phosphorus management; and Mr. Robert Nichol, Regional and Technical Director, BIOMIN Asia, who explained the chronic effects of mycotoxins on animal production and how to get steps ahead with an effective and comprehensive Mycotoxin Risk Management strategy.
