Brazil's meat and soybean lead agribusiness exports gains for third consecutive week

Brazil's agribusiness shipments post an increase of 9 percent this week compared to last month and 28.9 percent from June 2006 with soybean and meat leading the exports.

This year, soybean exports posted an increase by 78.3 percent and 52.1 percent on meat exports this year as compared to June 2006.

Other products which registered a positive result were orange juice, coffee, and the item paper and pulp, with hikes of 69.2 percent, 32.5 percent, and 21.6 percent. On the other hand, there were declines in comparison to the same month last year of sugar (-27.7%), wood (-2.8%) and tobacco (-3.4%).

However, the ongoing strike on some agribusiness monitoring agents which began Monday (June 18) will hinder exporting activities, anticipating weaker results next week.
