ConAgra recalls chicken product on suspected salmonella
ConAgra Foods Inc. (CAG) is recalling all its Marie Callender's brand Cheesy Chicken and Rice frozen meals after it has become suspect of a salmonella outbreak.
The outbreak has sickened 29 people in 14 states. "Eight of the case-patients specifically reported eating this product in April and May, 2010, prior to illness onset. The last reported illness was reported on May 22," the USDA said.
ConAgra called the recall a "precautionary" measure and said it has been aiding in the salmonella outbreak investigation although there "is no definitive link between the recalled product and any illness."
