Ethiopia harvests 114 million quintals of grain
 

 

More than 114 million quintals of grain was harvested from farmlands developed through irrigation until April this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said.

 

The stated volume of grain was harvested from 1.1 million hectares of land developed through irrigation, Public Relations Head with the Ministry Tarekegn told ENA over the weekend.

 

More than 200 million quintals of grain is expected to be harvested from the land that will be developed through irrigation, Public Relations Head with the Ministry, Tarekegn Tsige said over the weekend. It was planned to harvest the stated volume of grain from two million hectares of land.

 

So far, 1.1 million hectares of land has been developed through irrigation. More than 530,000 tonnes of fertilizer was purchased for use in the stated farming season.
