Australian dairy group approves GM feed use on cattle

The South Australian Dairyfarmers Association (SADA) has supported the massive advocate for genetically modified (GM) feed for the dairy cows.

The decision comes on the back of similar agreement from Victoria's peak body.

SADA however says the final decision still relies with milk processors and dairy farmers.

Companies like Warrnambool Cheese and Butter have yet to say whether they will accept milk from cows grazed on GM pastures.

Dairy farmers are yet to decide on the GM feed use as Mount Gambier Dairy farmer James Mann says there is no rush from farmers to use the technology. He also said the decision to implement GM pastures are still hanging until 2013 a "lot of things will still take place" whether GM feed and pastures are still feasible at that period.
