Chicken Prices Go Up In Bangladesh

Prices of chicken shot up, and that of oil remained high on the Bangladesh city markets last week.

At Maulavibazar on Thursday, price of loose soybean oil per maund (37.3 kilogram) declined to Tk 1,710 against Tk 1,750 the previous week and Tk 1850 the month before.

The wholesale rate has come down as the price fall continues in the international market, market sources said.

But the retail price of soybean oil remained quite unchanged. Loose soybean oil sold at Tk 52-54 per kilogram and packed soybean oil at Tk 52-55 per litre.

Price of broiler chicken increased to Tk 68-72 per kilogram against Tk 66-68 the previous week.

The high price of fish is attributed to the price hike of chicken, said a trader at Kathal Bagan Bazar.
