Russia's poultry production up 17.7% in January-May
In the first five months of this year, Russia produced 1.4 million tonnes of poultry, up 17.7% against the same period last year, the federal statistics service reported Tuesday (June 19).
Without giving the output in tonnes, the statistics service said poultry production in May was 12.3% more than in May 2011 and 0.7% more than in April this year.
Russia's poultry industry is developing at a considerable rate, with private investment increasing constantly and the government encouraging increased domestic output as a means to replace imports.
