Argentina's April soy crush up 6 percent from year ago

 

 

Argentina's April soybean crush totalled 2,979,279 tonnes, up 6 percent from the 2,961,181 tonnes crushed in April 2006, according to the Agriculture Secretariat's latest data.

 

Argentina produced 579,063 tonnes of soyoil in April, compared with the 559,083 tonnes produced a year earlier.

 

Soy pellet output in April totalled 2,277,268 tonnes, down from the 2,297,042 tonnes produced a year ago.

 

The 2005/06 soy harvest totalled 40.5 million tonnes, according to the US Department of Agriculture. Argentina will produce a record 46.5 million tonnes of soybeans from the 2006/07 crop, according to the USDA and the Agriculture Secretariat.

 

  

Sunseed crush

 

Argentina also crushed 338,681 tonnes of sunseed in April, down from 426,113 tonnes the previous year.

 

Sunoil production totalled 138,049 tonnes in April, down from 169,876 tonnes a year earlier.

 

Sunseed pellet output in April was 143,072 tonnes, down from 189,600 tonnes a year earlier.
