South Africa's 2007/08 corn imports rise to 4,479 tonnes
South Africa's white corn imports rose by 316 tonnes last week to 4,479 tonnes, the South African Grain Information Services (SAGIS) said Tuesday (Jun 19).
Yellow corn imports for the week rose by 36,519 tonnes to 195,276 tonnes.
Last season the country imported a total of 915,142 tonnes of yellow corn.
Total corn exports rose by 5,219 tonnes to 33,500 tonnes.
Wheat imports since October last year rose by 41,724 tonnes to 446,525 tonnes last week, SAGIS showed in its weekly report.
The bulk of the shipments were from Canada.
Exports rose by 3,873 tonnes to 203,385 tonnes, with 3,209 tonnes of exports shipped to Botswana.
