Malaysia to build massive livestock facility in Sabah
Malaysia will be building a new cattle livestock facility in Sabah, which will be the first large scale complex of its kind in the country.
The 2,084-acre centre is a flagship project under the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC).Through the centre, Malaysia aims to increase the population of high-quality yield cows, and also to develop a sustainable breeding structure for cattle.
The centre will have 2,000 dairy cattle, which will produce six million litres of milk every year. The dairy products produced at the centre will be distributed in Sabah, in Peninsular Malaysia as well as in Brunei.
As part of the agreement, Brunei, through its subsidiary, Annam, will hold 40% stake in KILC, through its investment in the centre.
Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, said that KILC is estimated to generate investment opportunities for the interior areas, and thus would become a catalyst for agriculture and agro-based development in Malaysia.
KILC is expected to start producing its first batch of milk next year, with an average of 12 litres a day.
