Romania's Transavia puts in US$5 million for poultry feed plant improvement
In order to add a new production line and raise the storage capacity of its feed plant in central Romania, an investment of EUR4 million (US$5 million) has been put in by Transavia, Romanian poultry and egg producer.
The storage capacity of the factory, located in Santimbru in Alba County, was doubled to 72,000 tonnes by adding six new silos, bringing their total number to 15, Transavia said in a statement on Monday (June 18).
Following the investment, the production capacity of the poultry feed plant reached 250,000 tonnes per year, Transavia said.
The company's investment plan for 2012 amounts to EUR15 million (US$19 million).
Transavia produces 50,000 tonnes of poultry meat per year. Besides the feed plant, it also has 15 broiler farms, two breeding farms and two incubation units, two slaughterhouses and a meat processing factory. The company also owns two vegetable farms.
