UK April wheat exports up 35 percent from previous month

 

 

The UK exported 224,175 tonnes of wheat in April, up 35 percent from the previous month, UK trade data issued through the Home Grown Cereals Authority Friday (Jun 16) showed.

 

All of the April wheat exports were to countries within the European Union.

 

Through the first 10 months of the 2005/06 marketing year, UK wheat exports totalled 2.088 million tonnes, down 27 percent on the year from 2.858 million tonnes.

 

UK barley exports totalled 28,076 tonnes in April, down from 36,331 tonnes in March. Barley exports for the marketing year so far total 581,720 tonnes, down from the 820,667 tonnes exported a year earlier.

 

Rapeseed exports tallied just 1,281 tonnes in April, down from 15,337 tonnes in the previous month. For the marketing year so far rapeseed exports total 172,678 tonnes, up sharply from 43,563 tonnes for the same period last year.
