Punjab allocates US$37.5 million for agri sector

In order to meet the challenges of food security and increase the growth rate in agriculture, the Punjab government has allocated PKR3200 million (US$37.5 million) in the Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2010-11.

According to the budget documents, the allocation is equal to the current year's allocation. However, it is 38% higher than the revised allocation of PKR2,327 million (US$27 million) for the current year 2009-2010.

However, the white paper on the budget while discussing the agriculture, mentioned that the revised allocation for the current year is PKR1,862 million (US$22 million), while comparing sector wise development programme 2010-11 with the current year, it states that the revised allocation for agriculture is PKR2,327 million.
