The government in Tanzania has banned the importation of pigs and the related products into the country over AH1N1 flu fears.

The deputy minister for livestock development and fisheries James Wanyancha said here the government was taking all necessary steps to prevent the deadly swine flu from entering the country.

Wanyancha said the ministry had been giving public education through the media encouraging people to refrain from slaughtering sick pigs and eat only properly cooked pork.
