Waitrose commits to support British pork industry
Major UK retailer Waitrose is committed to helping the British pork industry by sourcing all of its pork products from the UK.
At present, Waitrose already sources 100 percent of its fresh pork and more than 90 percent of its bacon from the UK, according to the Farmers Guardian.
The decision comes as the industry struggles against rising costs. Nine out of 10 pig farmers are considering quitting for good as farmers currently lose around GBP12 (US$23.50) on every pig produced.
