Ukraine pig population up 2.2 percent in May
In May 2008, Ukraine's pig population rose 2.2 percent or 144,600 heads from April 2008 to 6.676 million heads, according to the State Statistics Committee.
Private farms population rose 3.5 percent or 138,300 heads to 4 million heads while specialised farms population grew 0.2 percent or 6,300 heads to 2.628 million heads from April.
However, pig population dropped 20 percent or 1.670 million heads on-year - private farms population dropped 18.4 percent or 914,100 heads while specialised farms population plunged 22.3 percent or 755,900 heads.
