Australian cattle producers warned of interstate regulations
Â
Â
Queensland's largest collective fine for illegal cattle movement from New South Wales has sent a warning to cattle producers.
Â
Five people were fined AUD114,000 (US$98,100) in total for breaching Queensland's Stock Act, which aims to protect the state's beef industry by keeping the Bovine Johne's disease out.
Â
Industry and Investment NSW's Sally Spence said cattle producers in New South Wales need to be aware of interstate regulations.
Â
"If cattle producers are going to take cattle to other states, they've got to check with that state before they rashly go and take them up there," Spence said.
Â
"Because there are rules, not so much going south, going into Victoria or Tasmania, but going into all the other states, they've got to meet certain conditions."
