Zhongpin resumes Sichuan pork facility operations

Zhongpin Inc. announced that it has resumed pork production at the Deyang plant in the Sichuan Province, after the earthquake disrupted its operations.

Zhongpin officials said the facility has resumed 80 percent of prior-earthquake utilization level.

Xianfu Zhu, chief executive officer of Zhongpin, said the Deyang plant is now in process of a speedy recovery and will return to its normal production level by the end of this month.

Furthermore, Xianfu expressed confidence in attaining the plant's 2008 financial targets."

Zhongpin is a meat and food processing company that specializes in pork and pork products in china. Its distribution network spans more than 20 provinces and includes over 2,900 retail outlets.
